Welcome to the town of Saint-Anne, located in the South of the island. The community of Sainte-Anne is known for its Club Med, its white sandy beaches located on its territory (Grande and Petite Anse des Salines, Anse Caritan, Anse Meunier, Anse Michel, ….). Bordered by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, the territory of the municipality of Sainte-Anne offers many water activities because of its geolocation taking advantage of the Atlantic wind (windsurfing and Kite surf for example) and turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

In its village, the town offers a covered market, restaurants and seaside and has in its center, a magnificent church (Church of Our Lady of St. Anne) listed monument. In terms of services, a post office, distributors, many shops and a gas station at the entrance of the town.

This territory takes advantage of its attractive environment to invite you to discover beaches, hiking and seabed.

The beach of Anse Michel is a large white sand beach on the Atlantic side, its turquoise waters, its back beach vegetation will welcome you in the best way between tanning, swimming and rest under the coconut trees. You can also take the opportunity to introduce you to windsurfing, kite surf and kayaks. There is a restaurant on the beach for guests who want to eat by the sea.

The sea is not agitated but the beach is not monitored (take precautions).

Itinerary

 

To reach the beach, from Fort-de-France, join the A1 speedway then go to the south of the island (N5). You will go through two roundabouts in the town of Ducos (activity zones) then two other roundabouts in the town of Rivière-Salée. Follow the direction of the municipality of Marin. After passing the town of Sainte-Luce then the village of Marin, turn right towards the town of Sainte-Anne (D9). Go past the gendarmerie then a roundabout. At the next roundabout, follow the direction of the beach of Anse Michel (Cap Chevalier)

The road is damaged in some places, you will have to be patient and courteous so that traffic is possible both ways.

At this intersection, you can continue to reach the first beach of Anse Michel. If you take on your left, you will also go on the beach of Anse Michel but this piece of beach is more isolated and often victim of plies of gulfweed that go there.

Take straight to find yourself on a parking lot. A large wooden tower is at the beginning of the car park. The view is beautiful.

To park, you will have no trouble finding a place on the large car park at your disposal.

 

You must now head to the left of the car park where you will find a coastal path crossing the mangrove. Follow this path that will make you walk in the middle of the backcountry forest.

 

In this vegetation of back beach, you will see a magnificent cursed fig tree.

 

On weekdays, this beach is less crowded, you can fully enjoy this beach. On the weekends, the appeal of families for this beach is important. At the beginning of the year, the attraction is even more important because the season for the Kite Surf and Windsurfing is launched.

 

Go down the stairs to reach the beach of Anse Michel.

 

 

Enjoy the white sand and turquoise waters to relax and rest.

 

 

A school of Kite and windsurfing is located on the beach, the opportunity to introduce you to a new activity. You will also have the possibility to rent kayaks to go to the Chevalier Islet to spend the day. Another way is by taxiboat to access the Knight’s Island (located at the beginning of the car park).

 

A restaurant is also located on the beach. Take the opportunity to taste local dishes or buy refreshments.

 

Finally, this beach is located on the Trace des Caps hike and you have the possibility by following the poles to direct you to the Blue Eye located at the foot of Cap Ferré (about 4 kilometers).

For the more curious, a little treasure hides on this beach, a place where you can take beautiful pictures but also enjoy hot water out of sight. A little corner of paradise.

Tips

Ø Circulation in Martinique:  During the weeks you will encounter many traffic jams from 7 a.m. to 9. 30 a.m. in the industrial and commercial areas. Especially mornings driving from south (Rivière Salée, N5) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1), but also East (Robert , N1) going North , you will find the same traffic jams every evening on the other side from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Tip, think of the way and time you want to travel in order not to lose time.

Ø Facilities: hats, Swimsuit, towel, beach bag (knife, k-way, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, cash, mosquito repellent).

Ø Sanitary conditions:

–         Quality of the bathing area: Excellent (Source: Ministry of Health, see map)

–         Easy to access: by car and then walking

–         Sun cream obligatory because the beach is exposed to the sun, Lycras may be a good idea for children and adults.

–        Important tip: always have a bottle of water per person and a snack in your bag.

Others:  nearby you can go the the Anse Grosse Roche or Cap Macré beach or even do the Trace des Caps hike to discover the Chapelle de la Vierge des Marins or l’Oeil bleu (the basin at the foot of Cap Ferré located a little more than 3 kilometers away).
