Bienvenue sur la commune de Grand’Rivière, située au pieds de la Montagne Pelée à l’extrémité Nord de la Martinique. Cette commune isolée, vit essentiellement des activités de proximités comme la pêche. Des restaurants sont situés dans le bourg de la collectivité, notamment En termes d’activités, la pêche y est bien n restaurant “Tante Arlette” où vous pourrez y déguster un excellent repas. En termes de services, un poste et une banque sont situées sur la commune.
En termes d’activités, vous trouverez sur ce territoire, de nombreuses randonnées, l’une des plus connues, “Grand’Rivière-Prêcheur avec son trajet en bateau du port jusqu’à l’Anse Couleuvre. La commune de Grand’Rivière porte sont aussi grâce à la rivière qui passe à proximité où vous aurez aussi plaisir de vous y baigner. Des parcours de Canyoning ou encore l’ascension de la Montagne Pelée peuvent se faire depuis cette commune. Enfin, jusqu’à côté de bourg, vous trouverez une magnifique plage de sable noire, la “Plage Sinaï“.
La plage de Sinaï est une plage peu connue en Martinique du fait de son isolement au Nord de la Martinique. Entre terre et mer, vous vous baignerez dans une eau chaude des Caraïbes au pieds d’une magnifique falaise surplombée d’une végétation luxuriante. Comble de tout, vous aurez une magnifique vue sur l’Île de la Dominique.
La plage n’est pas surveillée et peut être légèrement agitée.
Itinéraire
Pour rejoindre la plage,
Arrivé un peu avant la commune, vous pourrez déjà profiter d’une vue panoramique sur la commune.
La route descend vers la commune, vous passerez un pont et vous voici dans le bourg de la commune. Orientez vous vers le port de Grand’Rivière. Vous aurez des routes à sens unique jusqu’au parking. Une pancarte “Plage de Sinaï” sera visible à proximité de la mairie.
Garez-vous sur ce parking en bas de la route. Vous pouvez continuez par le port pour vous rapprocher du bourg et le visiter. Vous n’aurez pas de mal à trouver des places de parking.
La Plage Sinaï
Pour découvrir cette plage, il vous suffit d’emprunter le chemin située à proximité du premier parking.
Après quelques minutes, vous verrez la plage.

Une autre plage, plus isolée, est située un peu plus loin. Il vous suffit de longer la première plage et de passer entre les rochers. Vous y verrez un grand tuyau en PE.
Vous voici devant la deuxième plage.
Il est l’heure de faire place au bain et à la relaxation avec pour fond sonore, les vagues de la Mer des Caraïbes.
Un magnifique coucher de soleil est à voir aussi sur la commune de Grand’Rivière. je l’ai observé depuis l’autre plage de galets de la commune, située à l’opposé de la plage Sinaï, afin d’en profiter pleinement.

| En termes de conseils,
Ø Circulation en Martinique : En semaine, vous ferez face à des bouchons aux abords des zones industrielles ou commerciales, notamment le matin, dans le sens du Sud (Rivières Salée, N5) vers le Nord (Fort-de-France, A1) et de l’Est (Robert, N1) vers le Nord (Fort-de-France, A1), de 7h à 9h30, et inversement en fin de soirée de 17h00 à 18h30. Pensez à votre trajet la veille afin de vous adapter à cette circulation qui peut être dense et vous faire perdre facilement du temps. Ø Equipements : Claquettes, Maillot de bain, serviette, sac de plage (couteau, k-way, casquette, lunette de soleil, crème solaire, produit anti-moustique). Ø Santé : – Qualité de la zone de baignade : Bonne (Source : Ministère de la santé, voir carte) ; – Accessibilité : Facilement en voiture et un peu de marche, pas d’accès d’handicapé ; – Crème solaire obligatoire car la plage est bien exposée au soleil, pensez même aux lycras pour enfants et adultes ; – Le plus important, toujours une bouteille d’eau par personne et quelque chose à grignoter dans son sac. Divers : vous pouvez visiter à proximité l’Habitation J.M, faire les Gorges de la Falaise ou effectuer la randonnée Grand’Rivière – Prêcheur ou jusqu’à l’Habitation Fond Moulin. |

Welcome to the town of Grand’ Rivière, located at the foot of Mount Pelee at the northern end of Martinique. This isolated town lives essentially from activities of proximities as the fishing. In terms of activities, you will find on this territory, many hikes, one of the best known, “Grand’ Rivière-Prêcheur with its boat ride from the port to Anse Couleuvre.” The municipality of Grand ‘Rivière owes its name to the river where you will have the opportunity to take a bath there. Canyoning courses or the ascent of Mount Pelée can be done from this town. You will find a beautiful black sand beach, the “Sinai Beach“.
The beach of Sinai is a beach not known in Martinique because of its isolation in the North of Martinique. Between land and sea, you will swim in warm Caribbean water at the foot of a beautiful cliff overgrown with lush vegetation. Best of all, you will have a magnificent view of Dominica Island.
There are no lifeguards on the beach and it may be slightly agitated.
Itinerary
To reach the beach,
By the Atlantic coast, join the A1 speedway and take the exit in direction of the town of Robert (N1). You will have to cross the commune of Robert then go towards the commune of Sainte-Marie then towards Basse Pointe, Macouba then Grand’ Rivière by the D10. You will go along the Atlantic coast, you will have many panoramas on the Atlantic Ocean and you will be able to discover the architecture of the communes of the North Atlantic region of the island.
By the center of the island, join the A1 speedway then take the exit of the Balata Road (N3) to go up to the North Atlantic of the island. You will see as you go hydrophilic vegetation that will be more and more lush and dense around you. You will be able to see the reception areas in the forest or the departures for hikes in the rainforest. You will cross the towns of Fond Saint-Denis, Morne Rouge then Ajoupa-Bouillon to join the N1 or the D21 towards the town of Basse-Pointe. Continue on the D10 towards the town of Macouba then Grand’ Rivière.
In terms of time, starting from Fort-de-France, the Route de Balata is the fastest to reach the North Atlantic of the island but the road is sportier (bends, descents, climbs). It will take you an hour and a half to two hours to go there.
Before arriving in the town, you will already enjoy a panoramic view of the town.
The road goes down to the town, you will cross a bridge and here you are in the village. Go to the port of Grand’Rivière. You will have one-way roads to the car park. A sign “Sinai Beach” will be visible near the city hall.
La Plage Sinaï
You can park in the parking lot down the road. You can continue by the port to get closer to the village and visit it. You will not have trouble to find a parking place.
To discover this beach, simply take the path located near the first parking.
After a few minutes, you will see the beach.

Another beach, more isolated, is located a little further. Just walk along the first beach and pass between the rocks. You will see a large PE pipe

It is time to go for a swim and relax with the sound waves of the Caribbean Sea.
The sunset is beautiful in the town of Grand’ Rivière. I observed it from the other beach of the town, located opposite to the Sinai beach, in order to take full advantage of it.

Ø Circulation in Martinique: During the weeks you will encounter many traffic jams from 7 a.m. to 9. 30 a.m. in the industrial and commercial areas. Especially mornings driving from south (Rivière Salée, N5) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1), but also East (Robert , N1) going North , you will find the same traffic jams every evening on the other side from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Tip, think of the way and time you want to travel in order not to lose time. Ø Facilities: hats, Swimsuit, towel, beach bag (knife, k-way, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, cash, mosquito repellent). Ø Sanitary conditions : – Quality of the bathing area: Excellent (Source: Ministry of Health, see map) – Easy to access : by car and then walking – Sun cream obligatory because the beach is exposed to the sun, Lycras may be a good idea for children and adults. – Important tip: always have a bottle of water per person and a snack in your bag.
Divers : Nearby you can visit Habitation J.M, for go to les Gorges de la Falaise or even do the hike Grand’Rivière – Prêcheur to the Habitation Fond Moulin. |
