Welcome to the municipality of “les Trois-Ilets”, essentially and mainly turned on tourism with its districts of the “Anse Mitan,” and the “Anse à l’Âne” and “Pointe du Bout”. Hotels, restaurants, shops and bars are concentrated in these places where you will have the opportunity to discover the Creole village and the village of the Pottery in order to eat and buy local products and souvenirs.

In terms of activities, there are diving clubs, catamaran excursions, paddle rides, beaches, casino, tree climbing, cultural outings (the Pagerie Museum or the Cane Museum) or even golf courses.

In terms of service, you have a post office, banks that are located in the town. You can also hike the Hauts de la Pagerie and the Plateau de La Talante.

To reach the departure point of the hike, from Fort-de-France, join the A1 expressway and then head towards the south of the island (N5).  You will pass through two roundabouts on the municipality of Ducos (zones of activities) then two other roundabouts on the town of Rivière-Salée. Take the exit just after this last roundabout, indicating the direction of Trois-Îlets (D7). After a 10-minute drive you will pass the “Mangofil” sign, then the “Village de la Poterie” and right after the Cane Museum. Follow the direction of the Pointe du Bout towards the town of Trois-Îlets. Pass the town, always in direction of Pointe du Bout then you will drive along the golf of the commune. Be sure to look on your left not to pass the sign indicating the Museum of Pagerie. Turn left (D38) and park on the parking lot in front of the Museum of La Pagerie, easily recognizable because you have right next to it the ruins of an old sugar factory. Here you are on the departure point of the hike!

The Parking is not very spacious but you will not have too much trouble parking. It is possible to park on the roadside as it is a road with little traffic.

Tips : If you also  wish to do  visit the Museum of the Pagerie,  you will find below the opening hours.

The hiking trails of the Hauts de la Pagerie and the Talante plateau are both not difficult (and possible for the whole family), the first one is 4.6 kilometers (with a high difference of 180 meters) and the second is 1.7 kilometers (with a different of high of 32 m). In terms of time, it will take you 1h30 for the Hauts de la Pagerie and 15 minutes for the plateau of the Talante because unfortunately the trail is blocked by vegetation. You will not have access to the entire course for the latter.

As these two walks join together, you will then have the possibility to do both on the same day.

The starting point of the hike is in the car park in front of the Museum of the Pagerie. All you have to do is to leave towards your left (in front of the museum entrance) and follow the road. After three bridges and a little roadside walk (after the green mailbox), you will arrive in front of a path rising in a small glade.

The path sinks into an undergrowth to join a concrete road.

Keep going on the road and then take on your right at the first corner (Easy to find with the red and white sign).

The gravelly gravel trail climbs and takes you to an area where many fruit trees grow, it is also a place prized by potential hunters. You will see guard posts on your way.

Keep going and climb until the junction where you will see a sign, (“le bec blanc de la concorde“).

Take on your left and keep climbing.

The path goes up steeply.

By the end of this hiking Hauts de la Pagerie taking you on the plateau de la Talante, you will have a high – level watch on your right that will allow you to have a panoramic view of the Bay of Fort de France and Genipa.

A little climb but you can make it helping yourself with the rock.

Bay of Fort-de-France

Bay of Génipa

After admiring the view over the bays, the trail will take you to the plateau of Talante. Turn right at the end of the driveway.

You have reached the second hike. Take on your left

The path on the right is no longer practicable because of the vegetation that has regained its rights

This trail takes you on the territory of l’Ancinel. You will observe many rock formations and a forest of “mahoganys”. You will observe “rubalise “ and posts in the floors which will indicate the way to follow.

The trail ends at a road next to a private property.

All you have to do now is go back the way you came to reach the parking of the Pagerie museum.

TIPS: If you are doing the hike in a group and if some do not wish to do the hike in and back, you can park a car at the departure point and another one at the end of the hike.

However, the way back usually goes faster as the way go down to the parking.
