Welcome to the municipality of Trinity, located in the East of Martinique. In the past, under the influence of the Dubuc family (castle to visit the peninsula of the Caravelle), this town was a commercial port for sugar and rum. Today, this trade no longer exists but nautical activity is still present through many fishermen and boaters who take advantage of the rich waters around this town.

Within the borough of this community, you will have easy access to the banks, post office and gas station.

In terms of activities, the beaches of Tartane and surfing or the many walks by the sea like the unmissable Presqu’ile de la Caravelle will make you discover the biodiversity and beautiful landscapes.

The Pointe Rouge Loop hike is a first taste to discover the dry forest and sandy beaches of ocher color.

Itinerary

To get to the start of this hike, from Fort-de-France, towards the east of the island, towards the commune of Robert (A1 then Route N1). Pass the commune of the Robert, then direction Trinity then Tartane (follow the sign direction Château Dubuc, Route D2). On this Caravelle road you will have many views of the Atlantic Ocean. Pay attention to the road and after of sort of  u you can search for a place to park. The parking is quite spacious and you won’t have any trouble finding a place. Here you are at the starting point of the hike.

The Pointe Rouge Loop is a land trail accessible to all the family and children over 6 years old (depending on physical condition). The course is not sporty. The length of the course is about 3.2 kilometers with a walking time around 2 hours. The elevation gain is less and you will have just two climbs a bit more sporty to cross. The Pointe Rouge Loop

Two signs are available to explain the environmental context of the hike (dry forest) and to inform you that it is a protected site.

Starting Point of the hike

Several combinations are possible to make this hike. I took the start at the shortest with the path located just to the left of the panels. A path goes higher still if you wish.

Take the stairs and go straight down to the first cove. Be careful of the roots all along the hike.

Many information posts will help you to get on the hike.

After a moment to contemplate the cove, turn to the right to go along the seaside.

Red spots on trees and poles will also help you on this hike. You will be in the forest and you take the climb of a first cliff.

You will have many view points.

Continue the way to the next cove.

Continue along the edge of the sea. A small path in the middle of the vegetation which is not very observable allows you to join the next cove. You will have to cross a new cliff climb

Here you are on the cove just before Pointe à Bibi

Click on this link to have a first look at this beach on our Facebook page.

Go back along the seaside to discover new coves and join the residence of the tip in Bibi.

Last climb to the residence.

At the level of the residence, a path in front of you with information panels allows you to reach the car park of the starting point of the hike.

End of the hike, here you are at the parking lot.

You turn to discover it now !

Ø Circulation in Martinique:  During the weeks you will encounter many traffic jams from 7 a.m. to 9. 30 a.m. in the industrial and commercial areas. Especially mornings driving from south (Rivière Salée, N5) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1), but also East (Robert , N1) going North , you will find the same traffic jams every evening on the other side from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Tip, think of the way and time you want to travel in order not to lose time.

Ø Facilities: good pair of hiking shoes or tennis shoes bag with (knife, rain coat, lamp, hats or caps, sun glasses, sun cream and mosquito repellent).

-Difficulty : 4 out of 10, not very sporty course (two climbs a little more sporty), can be done by the whole family. Beware of slips and roots when walking in the forest.
