Welcome to the commune of Robert, located in the East of the island and open to the Atlantic Ocean. The community has a beautiful natural harbor surrounded by numerous coral reefs located wide between the different beautiful islets to discover. You will enjoy going there by boat or kayak to discover the wealth of accessible islands because some islets are private properties (Petite Martinique or the Îlet Chancel largely). The town is turned to water activities (kayaking, excursions, ….) to enjoy the turquoise waters of the bath Trapeze.

You will be able to observe also with pleasure, « yoles » specific boats in the Caribbean exercised in the bay. In terms of services, you can enjoy a covered market in the village of the town with these vegetables and local specialties, fresh fish by the sea. You will also find a bank, a post office, gas stations and restaurants of seas. Seaside hikes will also help you discover the different points, offering magnificent views and bathing places in the various coves of the town.

 

Let’s go today to the discovery of the Trapèze bathtub and the islets of Robert, including the Islet Chancel, with the kayak club, Madinina Kayaks.

The kayak club, Madinina Kayaks, offers two sea kayak trips from Le Robert to discover the splendor of the bay of this town.

  • The first, which is the best known, is the discovery of Chancel Islet and its iguanas and then relax in the bath Trapeze.
  • The other circuit will take you to the opposite of the Chancel Island in a beautiful swim along the mangrove where you will find an isolated and relaxing beach.

On Chancel Island, you will enjoy watching these iguanas, which are endemic to Martinique and protected. This is the Iguana Delicatissima, you will find it most often in the middle of branches in the trees or on the ground. Do not confuse with the Iguana Iguana (invasive species) larger. This islet is full of history, ruins that you can see are the remains of an old candy.

 

 

In the Trapeze bath, is made for relaxation and swimming in these warm turquoise waters between the islets where you will see fish and starfish.

  • KAYAKS SOLO (1 pax)
  • KAYAKS DUO (2 pax + 1 child under 10  years old no paddlers
  • KAYAKS  QUATTRO («3 adults OU 2 adults + 2 children under 10 years old no paddlers)
  • KAYAKS Family (2 adults + 2 children under 10 years old no paddlers)

In terms of price,

  • The half-day from 9h to 13h or from 13h to 17h will cost 15 euros per person (free for children under 10 years).
  • the whole day from 9h to 17h will cost 22 euros per person (free for children under 10 years). 

 

Tips:

It is best to do this activity on weekdays, except holidays so that it is not too busy. It is a must in Martinique and many boats moor to benefit the most curious

Book in advance preferably by phone.

How to reach Madinina Kayaks?

To access the kayak club, from Fort-de-France, join the A1 speedway then take the exit towards the town of Robert (N1). The road is not complicated. Drive to the town of Robert always following the directional signs (count half an hour drive from the Lamentin). At the roundabout in front of a Mcdonald, go straight on until the second roundabout where you will have to go straight again. You will see a sports field then a giant on your right before arriving on a third roundabout. On this one, you have to take the first exit. Pass the Intersport then again in front of the Giant to join another roundabout where you will see the sign “Madinina Kayaks”. Follow the indicated

 

 

You will have to park in the one-way road where the Kayak Club is at the end Kayak.

 

Introduce yourself to the people on site, so that they will equip you (lifejacket and cans for your bag) and in order to give you the instructions to make the tour safely.

TIPS :

Ø Circulation in Martinique:  During the weeks you will encounter many traffic jams from 7 a.m. to 9. 30 a.m. in the industrial and commercial areas. Especially mornings driving from south (Rivière Salée, N5) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1), but also East (Robert , N1) going North , you will find the same traffic jams every evening on the other side from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Tip, think of the way and time you want to travel in order not to lose time.

Ø Equipements: Masks, fins and snorkels lycras, hats, Swimsuit, towel, beach bag (knife, k-way, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, cash, mosquito repellent).
