This beach is located between the two municipalities of Sainte-Luce and Marin. These two towns are usually very crowded, many beaches and restaurants attract tourists to the town of Sainte-Luce while the beautiful Marin Bay is a popular place for sailors who stop in the Marina to enjoy the restaurants and beaches of the sea south of the Island.

The beach at Pointe Borgnèse has been preserved and is not very busy. You will be able to bathe easily on one in one of the two handles that this beach also called “the basin of turtles” will propose to you. The place is calm and relaxing. Beaches of white sand and seabed of important biodiversity, do not hesitate to take your mask and snorkel to observe fish and sea urchins.

Itinerary

To access to this beach (plan above), direction the south of the island (A1, N5) to the municipality of Marin. After passing the town of Sainte-Luce, you must go straight to the first and second roundabout (Anse Figuier). Past this roundabout, after one minute you will see a car park on your right, do not go too fast to miss it and park in the parking lot. The parking is not very big.

First tip: Even if the beach is not the busiest of the island, given the capacity of the car park, leave at the earliest to arrive before 9 am, especially on weekends. On weekdays, there is very little traffic and we will have no problem to park. Privilege this option and you may have the chance to have the beach just for you.

The access to the beach is done by the passage behind the barrier that you will see upon your arrival in the car park.

Plage de la Pointe Borgnese

Go down the stone path, to reach the first cove of Pointe Borgnèse.

You will meet a first white sand beach. You will be able to snorkel at the right of the coast along the cliff.

However, you also have the opportunity to walk along this first beach to go towards the second cove. You will have magnificent views, mixing vegetation and turquoise sea.

After 5 minutes of walk, you will arrive on the second cove. Find a corner in the shade (beware of mancenilliers in case of rain) to relax and enjoy the calm of this cove. Do not forget the sun cream index 50, the sun can be harmful between 10 am and 2 pm.

Do not forget your mask and snorkel……

Follow the cliff edge on the left of the cove towards Pointe Borgnèse. Here is a preview of what you will see (click on the image to access the video).

After observing the multitude of fish swimming in the middle of the corals, let you be tempted by the prospect of watching a sunset in the direction of the “woman lying down” in the town of Le Diamant.

Especially mornings driving from south (Rivière Salée, N5) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1), but also East (Robert , N1) going North , you will find the same traffic jams every evening on the other side from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Tip, think of the way and time you want to travel in order not to lose time.

Ø Facilities: hats, Swimsuit, towel, beach bag (knife, k-way, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, cash, mosquito repellent), masks and snorkel fins.

Ø Sanitary conditions:

–         Quality of the bathing area: Excellent (Source: Ministry of Health, see map)
