Welcome to the town of Anses d’Arlet, known for its seasonal villas, diving schools and restaurants by the sea. Like the other four beaches of the town, the beach of great cove presents a rich seabed. Mask, Palm and Tuba mandatory to discover this!

The beach of Grande Anse d’Arlet is a long beach of fine white sand. It is very lively thanks to the proximity of restaurants and you may have the chance to swim with sea turtles quite common in this cove.

Itinerary

To access this beach (plan above), leaving from Fort-de-France, head south of the island (A1, N5 then D7A) and take the exit Trois Ilets (D7). Cross the town of Trois Ilets, then go towards Anse à l’Âne, go past this beach and continue straight. The road is uphill and you will have many turns (be vigilant). You can also access this beach through the town of the Diamant by taking the D7 which will take you through a roundabout with a sculpture of Lambi. Take the first exit, towards Grande Anse beach and you will see on your right on your after two minutes of road, a forbidden direction on weekend telling you to turn right to reach the beach

After going through this little detour, you end up on a stop where you can turn right or left to find a place to park on the roadside. The beach is just in front of you hidden behind the various buildings (restaurants, mini markets, diving club, …).

If you turn right, you will have the choice to park on the side of the road or opt for a first car park.

If you continue on the road, you can take further on your left access to different parking lots.

One located near the beach directly on your left after a hundred meters.

Or a very spacious parking located two minutes on your right after passing next to a blue walkway.

Différentes possibilités s’offrent donc à vous pour trouver une place et profiter de cette longue plage de sable blanc.. Les places de parking sont situées principalement à moins de deux minutes de la plage et  des restaurants de bord de mer.

Different possibilities are available to you to find a place and enjoy this long beach of white sand .. The parking spaces are located mainly less than two minutes away from the beach and restaurants by the sea.

First tip: In high season, this is a popular beach holiday and it turns out that it gets pretty crowded over the morning. Leave early to arrive before 9 hours so you do not have too much trouble to park nearby and easily have a place on the beach. The shaded places that are not numerous are quickly taken. Furthermore  you will have the opportunity to have the seabed just for you.

Now that you have found a parking spacetake the various accesses that lead to the beach.

on of the entrance to the beach

Faced with this long white sand beach, you will observe a much more intimate side than the other because the seaside restaurants, dive club are located mainly on one side of the Cove. Access is easy for the whole family and swimming is not supervised.

Here is the side with the pedestrian street that brings you to the pontoon of the cove on where you can contemplate the beach of any edge

And on the other side, further away from the seaside restaurants, a large strip of white sand nearby to welcome you and make you enjoy a day under the Caribbean sun.

As you can see in the pictures above and below, the beach has few places in the shade. Think, if you are in family, to provide the protections for children and sunscreen index 50 or lycra. The sun is harmful between 10 am and 2 pm

During these hours, you can go to the seaside restaurants where you will have the opportunity to taste lobsters or other Creole dishes.

You will have different restaurants including Ti Sable, the Tree Bread, The Fruit of Patience or the Escale near this Grande Anse depending on the way you came from.

Ti Sable Restaurant with concerts every Sunday evening

Think about your mask and snorkel….

Do not forget your mask and snorkel ……. This beach offers the opportunity to see many green turtles. Enjoy this incredible marine biodiversity that you will have the opportunity to see in its natural environment. However watch out for observation instructions, touch with the eyes!

Time for you to dive now !

Tips

Ø Traffic in Martinique: During the week, you will face traffic jams near industrial or commercial areas, especially in the morning, in the direction of the South (Salt Rivers, N5) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1) and from the East (Robert, N1) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1), from 7h to 9h30, and conversely at the end of the evening from 17h00 to 18h30. Think about your trip the day before to adapt to this traffic that can be dense and make you lose time easily.

Ø Equipment: Slides, swimsuit, towel, beach bag (knife, k-way, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, cash, mosquito repellent), mask, palm and snorkel.

Ø Health:

Quality of the bathing area: Excellent (Source: Ministry of Health, see map); –

Accessibility: Easily by car and access on foot; – Sunscreen mandatory because the beach is well exposed to the sun, think even Lycras for children and adults; –

Most important thing, always a bottle of water per person and a snack in your bag.

Others: you can go nearby to see the beaches of Anse Dufour, Anse Noire, Petite Anse (Bourg) or hike the Morne Champagne or Cape Salomon.
