Welcome to the island of Saint-Barthélemy, located north of the small Antilles and territory of incredible wealth in environmental and economic terms. High-end island by its prestigious services of restorations, shoppings and others …. It is also an incredible cradle of biodiversity for the fauna and flora.

You will also be amazed by the many beaches, the landscapes of hills (dreary) the  culminating point is Morne de Vitet (286 m). Hiking and water activities are there ready for you to enjoy your stay.

You can escape to a beach or choose to enjoy shopping and luxury restaurants, a good compromise that only the island of St. Barthelemy has the secret.

Let’s go to the discovery of these white sand beaches.

The Baie de Saint-Jean beach is a large white sand beach located on the north side of the island and split in two by Eden Rock. The sea is not rough and you can enjoy the turquoise waters with family or friends. Rest chairs and restaurants / beach bar will allow you to eat or have drink feet in the water. The atypical context of this beach will also make you enjoy the take-offs and landings of planes arriving from nearby islands. A prohibition zone exists however. Stay calm there are not some many takeoffs or landings.

Itinerary

To get to the beach, from the airport, head east of the island (D209). The beach is located less than 2 minutes from the airport along the coast by this road.

The beach is separated in two by the Eden Rock. Bathing is not supervised in the Bay of Saint Jean.

You will have a first entrance next to the airport with a fairly spacious parking. A danger zone has been delineated using wooden stakes along the beach.

Baie de Saint-Jean

The second part of the beach is after Eden Rock. Parking spaces are harder to find. You will need to be patient and use your sense of convenience to find a suitable roadside parking space.

Depending on your choice of beach, both beaches are beautiful.

On the first beach (closest to the airport),

You will find after a few  minutes walking, a restaurant / bar on the beach with deckchairs. The beach is quite spacious and you will not have a hard time finding your little piece of tranquility to fully enjoy.

On the second beach (furthest from the airport), you will also find a restaurant / bar by the sea.

This part of the beach is also spacious and you will not have a hard time finding a place where you will really enjoy it.

As the beach is not shaded it is recommended to have an umbrella.

Watch out for the harmful effects of the sun.

Your turn to discover it !

Tips :

Ø Traffic on the island of St. Barthelemy: The island is not very big and you will not have any traffic problems. However, be careful of narrow roads and bends in uphill and downhill, some routes in the passes can be more delicate. Do not rush, you are on vacation!

Ø Equipment: Slides, swimsuit, towel, beach bag (knife, k-way, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, anti-mosquito product).

Ø Health:

Quality of the bathing area: Not informed (Source: Ministry of Health, see map); –

Accessibility: Easily by car, no handicapped access but possible with a wheelchair adapted; –

Sunscreen mandatory because the beach is well exposed to the sun, think even Lycras for children and adults; –

Most important, always a bottle of water per person and a snack in your bag.

Various: you can swim on the many other beaches of the island, Anse Grande Saline which is next for example. For the more adventurous, you can go hiking with the help of a guide (see the choice and link in our page of St. Barthelemy).
