Welcome to the town of Sainte-Luce, located in the south of Martinique. Spread over many districts with in particular the Trois Rivières district known for its rum with the Habitation Trois Rivières. The town of Sainte-Luce offers many panoramas of the Caribbean Sea thanks to its districts located in the heights of the hills. By the sea, restaurants will offer to taste lobster or conch. A post office and some souvenir shops will also be at your disposal. This town is attractive with its white sand beaches which are very pleasant with family or friends. One of them, the beach of Anse Fond Banane, has a magnificent setting where you will enjoy swimming.

Anse Fond Banane Beach is a light sand beach located on the Caribbean Sea side. This cove will offer you a swim with the pleasure of contemplating the Diamant rock and the reclining woman in the distance. It is also a stage on the coastal path of the commune of Sainte-Luce.

Finally, a restaurant is located on the beach if you want to eat by the sea (Aqua Grill).

The beach is not supervised (take your precautions) but you will have the pleasure of finding some shady spots.

Itinerary

To reach the beach, from Fort-de-France, join the A1 expressway then head towards the south of the island (N5). You will go through various roundabouts at Rivières Salée. At the next roundabout, you arrive at the roundabout indicating the direction of the Trois-Rivières plantation, continue straight again then turn right at the following roundabout. At the stop sign, turn left (D7) and drive for 5 minutes along the side until you reach a large bend where you will see the entrance to the beach (photo below).

When you reach the beach, you can only park on the side of the road. Places are quickly taken and I advise you to go to this beach as soon as possible, especially on weekends.

Tip: this beach is less crowded on weekdays, so you’ll be more relaxed to enjoy the Caribbean Sea.

The beach is also accessible via the Sainte-Luce fitness trail, nothing prevents you from parking on the other coves nearby as well.

As soon as you arrive on the beach, you will see a seaside restaurant on your right.

The beach is now in front of you. It is a small cove of very charming white sand with the Diamond Rock and the reclining woman in the distance.

You will have a few shady corners to rest in, sheltered from the sun. You will have no trouble finding a place on weekdays. Quite popular family beach on weekends

In terms of advice,

Ø Traffic in Martinique: During the week, you will face traffic jams around industrial or commercial areas, especially in the morning, in the direction of the South (Rivières Salée, N5) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1) and from the East (Robert, N1) to the North (Fort-de-France, A1), from 7 am to 9.30 am, and vice versa at the end of the evening from 5 pm to 6.30 pm. Think about your journey the day before in order to adapt to this traffic which can be dense and easily waste time

Ø Equipment: Slides, swimsuit, towel, beach bag (knife, k-way, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, mosquito repellent).

Ø Health:

Quality of bathing area: Good (Source: Ministry of Health, see map);

Accessibility: Easily by car, no disabled access but possible with an adapted wheelchair;

Mandatory sunscreen because the beach is well exposed to the sun until late afternoon, even think about lycras for children and adults;

Most important, always a bottle of water per person and something to snack in your bag.

Miscellaneous: you can visit the nearby Habitation Trois-Rivières or take a walk along the coast on the town’s health trail. At the same time, you will discover the many other magnificent beaches in this corner of Martinique. If you prefer greenery and shade, the Forest of Montravail can accommodate you.
